January 13, 2002: Manhattan Bones, The 55 Bar, 55 Christopher St., Greenwich Village, New York City, 9:30 pm - 12:30 am. Manhattan Bones appeared at the 55 Bar in New York City on Sunday, January 13, 2002, profiling the music of many great trombonists, arranged for 4 trombones and rhythm section. Included were scorings of works by J. J. Johnson (including his "Shutterbug" and "In Walked Horace" solos arranged for the bone section), Bob Brookmeyer and Slide Hampton. Also featured are rescorings of Gil Evans's "Gone" and "Where Flamingos Fly" (with a recreation of Jimmy Knepper's solo), as well as works by Horace Silver, Duke Ellington, and original compositions.
